``Academician Lyubomir Chakalov`` National High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences

The Academician Lyubomir Chakalov” National High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences located in Sofia, Bulgaria is a secondary educational institution with 1150 students,
ages 14-19, divided into 44 classes.

Each class has a different major, namely Mathematics, Software and hardware Sciences, Natural Science, Economic development.
Education is provided by both school teachers and Sofia University lecturers.

Our students have always been among the best at olympiads, competitions and other contests at regional, national and international level. They also excel at art and sport. After graduation most of our students continue their education and become part of our national elite as scientists, doctors, politiciansand engineers, to name a few.
Also, they contribute significantly to broad national and international projects, participate in different study groups and use their knowledge in different educational areas. However, there are some problems. In Bulgaria, fewer and fewer young people do not embrace education as a chance for better career due to low payment and disappointment with the traditional school system.

Our contemporary student is curious and often in the net. He/she is full of information, mostly not usable, confusing and distracting him. On the other side we have families abroad, families with one parent, adopted kids or such children whose families are far away in the country. Although these are isolated cases we took point of attention.

Europe faces the same issues, so we would like to see how our European colleagues deal with. It would be highly beneficial for our pupils to share experiences with other countries and compare practices. We – Bulgarian National High School of Mathematics and Science work hard to became participants in Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership for Schools.

From tree years we have colleague with big experience in Erasmus+ and Comenius projects before. In her previous school she was coordinator and member of transnational visits. She is ICT teacher. The rest of teachers that will be involved are teachers in English, IT and Physics.
We share ideas and knowledge with members of our Gymnasiums School Parliament to choose the best pupils for the purpose of main objectives in our part. We made schedule with necessities for approval.
We organize our students in groups for each meeting. The project will be highly motivational for all of our students.

Also, this project will improve our students’ STEAM skills increasing their awareness on STEAM jobs.

They will develop their communication, English, digital PBL skills via working in multinational teams. The pupils will be prepare themselves for the world of employment.
Also, teachers will enhance their competence in integrating their lessons into STEAM disciplines by exchanging best practices with colleagues from partner countries.
